Access to Stowmarket East will be from the adjacent road network with a new access point to be provided direct from the A1120. In addition, and in line with the development of the adjacent Food Enterprise Zone (Gateway 14), a supplementary access point will be provided from the ‘Tesco roundabout’ leading on to Mill Lane and then Stowmarket East. As part of these works (i.e. delivery of access from the ‘Tesco roundabout’ through to Mill Lane) it is proposed that the flyover bridge linking the Cedars Park residential estate will be closed to vehicles and converted into a dedicated pedestrian / bicycle path.
A planning application for the internal spine road linking Mill Lane (Stowmarket East) to the proposed principal roundabout on Food Enterprise Zone (Gateway 14) is awaiting consent and is linked to the signing of the S106 for the Gateway 14 land.
Mid Suffolk District Council is committed to delivering the internal highways and is working with the Norfolk and Suffolk Local Enterprise Partnership. An area of the site was allocated as a Food Enterprise Zone in Autumn 2015 and discussions are ongoing to agree the funding and delivery of infrastructure in the site as a result.
